Cycling is set to take a new leap in Kwara State as the Director General of Khadijat Toyin Musah (KTM) Foundation, on Friday February 4, 2022, inaugurated the Sub-Committees for the maiden edition of the Kwara State Track Cycling Championship.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the Conference Room of the Kwara State Sports Commission, heralded the championship aimed at discovering and raising formidable cycling talents across the nooks and crannies of the State of Harmony.
Speaking at the event, the Director General of KTM Foundation, Dr. Khadijat Toyin Musah, stated that the initiative is a by-product of her organisation's resolve towards engaging the youth productively, while also discovering the talents that abound in the state.
Dr. Musah, who is also a Board Member of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN), noted that the championship, which will feature public and private schools across the state, will further enhance the development of cycling as a sport and help young cyclists maximise their potentials.
While appreciating the willingness of the Heads of Sub-Committees to work for the success of the groundbreaking initiative, she expressed her optimism in their qualitative and professional services towards delivering a championship of repute.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji, represented by the Stadium Manager, Wale Obalola, commended the organisers of the programme and assured them of his support.
The Acting Chairman of the Kwara State Cycling Association, Alhaji Shehu Lawal, also lauded the initiative, which he said will raise the bar of cycling to the level of prominence it deserves.

The championship has been scheduled to hold on February 25 and 26, 2022, in Ilorin.
Guests at the event included Jimoh Bashir, Chairman of the Kwara State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN); Alhaji Saka Imam, Deputy Registrar of Kwara State University, Malete, who also doubles as a Board Member of the KTM Foundation; and Suleiman Yusuf, Chairman of the Sports Officers Association, among others.
